Certain information gets collected automatically as soon as you use this app. The following gives you an overview of what type of information is being collected.
When you download the app from the Apple App Store, your user data is transmitted to the store to validate your purchase. This data can include but is not limited to your e-mail address, your payment information, and details about the device used to make the purchase. This data gets exclusively collected and processed on the servers of the App Store and we have no control over this data, nor can we view it.
While using the app, certain details about your usage may be collected. This can include: your device model, your operating system version (e.g. iOS), the app version, and the default language of your device. Furthermore we collect data about how you use the app, such as statistics (e.g. number of games played, number of hints needed), preferred settings, and crash reports.
This information is used so that we can a) offer you the functionality of the app, b) improve the functionality of the app, and c) prevent misuse and discover errors.
We use our own, self-hosted analytics system running on our own infrastructure — no third-party analytics provider receives this data, and it is never sold or shared. To group usage sessions, the analytics system uses a pseudonymous, per-installation identifier (Apple's identifierForVendor). This identifier is specific to our apps on your device, is not your advertising identifier, and cannot be used by third parties to identify you. No name, e-mail address, or account data is collected or stored by our analytics.
We deem the processing to be lawful to uphold the existing usage contract you implicitly agreed to by downloading the app (Art. 6(1b) GDPR). Furthermore we deem the processing to be lawful to pursue our interest in offering a working, error-free app, with the goal to constantly improve our offering (Art. 6(1f) GDPR), which outweighs the privacy interests of the user given the pseudonymous nature of the data.
The free version of the app is funded by advertising. Ads are served through Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Ltd. and Google LLC. Through AdMob's mediation, ads may also be delivered by the partner ad network Pangle, operated by ByteDance.
When an ad is requested, these advertising partners receive certain data from your device: device information (such as model and operating system version), your IP address (used to derive your approximate location and to prevent fraud), and data about your interaction with ads (such as impressions and clicks).
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent dialog (Google's User Messaging Platform) when you first launch the app. Personalized advertising is only used with your consent (Art. 6(1a) GDPR). Without consent, you will be shown non-personalized ads based only on your approximate location and the current content (Art. 6(1f) GDPR). You can review and change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Ad Privacy Options.
The app does not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not perform cross-app tracking; it never requests the App Tracking Transparency permission.
All ads can be permanently removed with the Premium subscription.
